GEMALINK CONTAINER TERMINAL PROJECT

VMEC-GEO Geotechnical Survey Company Implements Advanced Survey Methods for Gemalink Port Project

On July 19, 2024, VMEC-GEO Geotechnical Survey Company officially began the geotechnical survey project at Gemalink Port, one of the most important and modern seaports in Vietnam. With the aim of ensuring quality and safety for construction projects at the port, VMEC-GEO has applied advanced survey methods, including onshore CPTu testing, onshore sample drilling and SPT testing, laboratory testing, and data analysis to create detailed reports.

Onshore CPTu Testing

As part of the project, VMEC-GEO has conducted onshore CPTu (Cone Penetration Test with pore pressure measurement) testing. This advanced method uses a cone-shaped probe to explore and measure key soil parameters, including bearing capacity and pore pressure. The probe is pushed into the soil at a constant rate, providing accurate data on the mechanical properties of the soil at the survey site.

CPTu testing helps clearly identify the geotechnical characteristics of the soil, providing essential data for designing pile foundations and other construction structures. Using this method not only ensures accuracy but also enhances the reliability of the project.

Onshore Sample Drilling and SPT Testing

Alongside CPTu testing, VMEC-GEO also conducts onshore sample drilling and SPT (Standard Penetration Test) testing. SPT is a widely used method to determine the mechanical properties of soil by counting the number of hammer blows required to drive a sample tube into the ground.

Soil samples collected during the drilling process are used for laboratory analysis, providing detailed data on the soil's structure and composition. Close supervision of the drilling and SPT testing process ensures that procedures are carried out according to technical standards, ensuring both safety and accuracy for the project.

Laboratory Testing

After collection, the soil samples are transported to VMEC-GEO's laboratory for additional testing. These tests include analyzing moisture content, compressibility, porosity, and other mechanical properties of the soil. Through laboratory testing, VMEC-GEO can provide detailed and accurate results on soil characteristics, assisting engineers and designers in making appropriate construction decisions.

Data Analysis and Reporting

Once field and laboratory data have been collected and analyzed, VMEC-GEO's team of experts will perform data analysis and create detailed reports. These reports not only provide information on the geotechnical characteristics of the soil at Gemalink Port but also offer recommendations for design and construction, ensuring the safety and efficiency of projects.

Conclusion

The geotechnical survey project at Gemalink Port clearly demonstrates VMEC-GEO Geotechnical Survey Company's commitment to providing high-quality and reliable survey services. By applying advanced testing methods and detailed analysis, VMEC-GEO not only ensures the safety and sustainability of construction projects but also contributes to the sustainable development of maritime infrastructure in Vietnam. VMEC-GEO is proud to be a trusted partner, delivering value and satisfaction to its customers and partners.
